Product Description and Specifications

DSG Mouldings' Architectural Mouldings features are made from a high-density
polystyrene (EPS) foundation that is strengthened with premium fiberglass mesh and
finished with DSG Special Polymer Modified Cement Coating. The resulting product is
of high quality, long-lasting, and cost-effective. It performs well in all weather conditions,
remaining unaffected by rain, humidity, or drastic temperature fluctuations. It does not
shrink, expand, or decay, and requires minimal maintenance once installed correctly.
While DSG products are perfect for outdoor use, they can also serve as an effective
option for interior design projects.
1) High-Density (EPS) Styrofoam
Regarding Styrofoam, it is worth noting that its recycled variant tends to deteriorate and
disintegrate more rapidly. Consequently, employing these recycled materials for
moldings is not advisable since they are expected to endure on your external walls for
several forthcoming decades. This explains why we opt to obtain our Styrofoam from a
globally recognized leader in the production of EPS. This company boasts a worldwide
reputation for crafting high-quality Expanded Polystyrene.
2) Alkali-Resistant Fiberglass Mesh
Fiberglass mesh of ordinary quality tends to break down, even to the point of complete
disintegration over time due to continuous exposure to alkali found in all cement
products. However, DSG Mouldings employs a fiberglass mesh that has been specially
treated with an alkali-resistant compound. This ensures its intended advantages are
preserved for the entire lifespan of the item it's used in. The role of this fiberglass mesh
is primarily for fortification purposes; it reinforces the cementitious coating and provides
a lath beneath said coating. This underlying support helps retain the integrity of the
coating.
3) Polymer Modified Cement Coating
Undoubtedly, the ultimate appearance holds utmost significance for you, and keeping
this in mind, DSG has undertaken exhaustive steps to guarantee that the coating
endures as long as feasibly achievable. Post the application of the fiberglass mesh, we
arrange the moldings on a production line that moves the item through an extrusion
machine before it's placed on a drying rack within a temperature-regulated space to
undergo curing.
Design Flexibility
Our catalog features a diverse range of profiles and other decorative elements. Besides
the details shown in this catalog, we have an extensive selection of profiles that can be
produced without additional setup costs. Simultaneously, we are dedicated to innovating
new concepts based on our customers' needs. No matter the production quantities, we
can adjust our shapes and develop new ones while keeping prices competitive. The
majority of our profiles can be provided in curved or arched forms to meet the design
specifications of the project.
Available Finish
1. PAINT-GRADE - our typical finishing grade. This coating has an average
minimum thickness of 1/8” and is very durable.
General Product Specifications
Mouldings and Architectural Details produced by DSG Mouldings are made from an
EPS base that is strengthened with a fibreglass mesh and finished with a “DSG Blend”
coating, where:
EPS Core: Expanded Polystyrene - Type 2 (code listed with CCMC 12425-L and meets
the requirements of CAN ULC S701.1, Type 2)
Fibre-Glass Mesh: balanced, open weave fibre glass fabric, compatible with “DSG
Blend” coating.
DSG Polymer Modified Coating: lightweight acrylic-based polymer modified cement
material. (CCMC Approved Material)
Our architectural details are suitable for both exterior and interior use.
Our mouldings and architectural details are secured to the main structure using
adhesive and/or a mechanical fastening system, depending on the substrate, the
dimensions of the elements, and the method of application.
Adhesive and mechanical fastening systems rely on the installation instructions
published by the manufacturer.
When applied in outdoor settings, our mouldings and architectural features must be
coated with a product appropriate for exterior use, following the Manufacturer’s
published guidelines.
