Installation

Pre-Installation

Products from DSG Mouldings are intended to be installed by individuals with basic skills in carpentry, plastering, or masonry, and require only standard tools and equipment.

Please take the time to carefully review all available documents regarding care, handling, and installation, and ensure that the site conditions, design layouts, and DSG products are accurate. Address any questions or issues before moving forward!

•  Comply with all relevant building regulations applicable to this type of product.

•  Ensure that necessary insurance coverage is active before commencing work.

•  Adhere to the project’s construction documents, including architectural drawings, specifications, addenda, correspondence, and other related materials.

•  Follow DSG’s policies, including these specifications and any related documents relevant to DSG profiles and/or the project.

•  Abide by DSG’s guidelines for the methods of attaching the shapes and for the interaction between the shape, substrate, and adjacent materials.

•  Any deviations from DSG’s standard procedures for attaching or detailing the shapes must be obtained in writing from DSG or its authorized representative prior to installation.

Substrate Conditions

Attachment surfaces must fulfill the following criteria:

•  Free from dust, dirt, and efflorescence.

•  Elevated above grade.

•  Dry before installation and remain dry for 24 hours.

•  Temperature must be above 40ºF and maintained at that level for at least 24 hours.

•  Must not be painted, sealed, or stained.

•  Must not have waterproofing coatings or release agents.

If the substrate has structural seams, such as expansion joints, DSG shapes should also be joined at those points. Shapes can be installed over most surface control joints, but it is advisable to consult your architect or building envelope specialist for confirmation.

Applied materials should not be exposed to significant motion, vibration, or wind forces while the adhesive is curing.

The wall assembly, which includes the substrate, must comply with code requirements, ensuring fundamental attributes such as structural integrity, durability, and resistance to fire and weather.

Liability

DSG Mouldings will not be liable for material defects after the product has been installed. Check for damage in shapes, such as straightness, color, texture, profile shape, dimensions, quantity, etc. Do not proceed with installation if there is any damage or if the products do not meet your required standards. DSG Moulding’s profiles are not designed to serve as a primary weather barrier. They are intended solely to enhance aesthetic appeal as decorative elements. To prevent moisture intrusion at windows, doors, and other openings, it may be necessary to use flashing and caulking behind, above, next to, and below our profiles. Consult your contractor or building envelope specialist for specific guidance. DSG profiles are non-structural. Do not attach items to our products, particularly by screwing or bolting hardware or other materials onto the DSG shape.
